When I began to paint this scene, the evening activities that must have created a dazzling display lights, had long ago ceased. I could only imagine how it was when students burned the midnight oil and the the Court of Maidens became a quiet sanctuary. It is a wonderful thing to give form to a dream. The years of practice have been worth it.
