Artist and Model Series

A solution to a "why" question. Why does anyone pose in the Nude? They pose for artists who want to study the human form. So why not make paintings about artists and models working together? This series uses the art studio as a place where artists and models are engaged in a process of picture making.

These works were inspired by a recent trip to a friends cabin in West Virginia. It rained most of the time and the panoramic views were marked by a strange mist spiraling up from the forested hills

Figurative Compositions
1990 to present

These works include a collection of figurative studies from life which I have worked into environments

Riverdale Series (1997 to present)

      This represents my latest focus on landscape. The works were
   made on location but the environmental conditions were invented.
   Starry night was not made on a clear dark night. The real
   meaning of my series has to do with the awakening awareness of
the beauties of the past as a model for the future.
      This series leads to a special series on "The River" which is
    found in New Directions

Fall River Series
RIVERDALE - Fall of 2002.

This is a series of compositions made
from snap shots of the Northeast
Branch of the Anacostia River
which flows near my home in
Riverdale Park, Maryland.
My focus was on the sky and its effects
on the River.

Forest Glen Series(1994-1996)

   This is a series of paintings and drawings that were mostly done
   on location. It was my intent to capture and savor the many moods of this magical site.

   Early Painted Collage Series (1968-1977)

These works were done in Graduate School at the University
   of Wisconsin. They were all part of my graduate show in
   spring of 1970.
