Studio Workshop*
It is time to modify my New Directions page. Since it was initiated, I have done a number of works and experimented with a number of subjects. I will continue the page primarily to emphasize my quest for new works and new series. When there are sufficient number of finished works based upon a common theme I will create a series and add it to my history of painting page.

New Figurative Works
Art and the Human Figure
For many years I have drawn and painted from live models. These works were not meant to be finished
art. They were studies and merely practice for developing skills and sensitivity to the awesome beauty of reality.
Sometimes I create an environment for the figure. Below are a few of these explorations none of which have been
carried to a finished state. This is not a NEW DIRECTION but sometimes leads to something I have not tried.
I have not had commercial success with my figure painting and therefore seldom spend time promoting it. This
does not mean that I think the work inferior to my other work or the work of other figure artists. My years of
copying the Old Masters at the National Gallery of art has enabled me to go far beyond most artists in capturing
or creating figurative expression. These works are more for the collector or speculator who sees their potential
as a major area of my work.
