Figurative
Paintings-from life
By Gerald King
The figures in these works were made
from direct observation of live models. They were usually composed on the
canvas without preplanning. The thoughts and ideas expressed were usually those
suggested to me by the subjects their actions and interactions. This approach
to developing a work of art by reading into the form as it is observed or
created is usually employed as supplementary or adjunct part of the more common
practice of planning or preconceiving a work of art. It is common for an artist
to add to and alter a work in progress.
