I am an image maker. My father was an artist and I try to carry on the tradition of art as he practiced it. As all artists prior to this century have done, I have looked to reality for my art. I have studied life and my environment with an artists eye and learned to express my thoughts and feelings by producing finely crafted pictures or illusions. Most people learn by reading or listening. The artist learns by drawing. My work reflects a visual vocabulary which I have developed through drawing. It was acquired by many years of study and practice. It is not a verbal expression and yet it deals with a subject. My goal is to bring my subject alive. Just as a sculptor transforms a brittle piece of stone into a figure which seems to breath and move, I attempt to create illusions which seem alive. I want my art to engage and bring a viewer into the work. To achieve this I pamper my subjects by stressing accuracy and detail. The amount of time a work may take is irrelevant for I must go beyond the design or composition, beyond the impression, beyond where I, and I alone, have been before.
